Abstract

By blaming Muslims for the assaults on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the West broadcast anti-Islamic propaganda around the world and began instilling a sense of fear in people. The phrase "Islamic terrorism" was coined shortly after these atrocities, and Muslims worldwide were portrayed as terrorists, zealots, bloodthirsty, murderers, extremists, anti-human, fundamentalists, and a menace to international peace. Following that, Americans and Europeans started to harbour a growing amount of animosity toward Islam. Western media outlets such as TV, newspapers, and magazines began to portray Muslims as bloodthirsty barbaric people. Islamophobia, which is the term for this Western practice, is one of the major issues the Muslim Ummah has been dealing with since September 11. Following this tragedy, Muslims living in the West face several restrictions and forms of prejudice. People in the West now have such a deep-seated fear of Islam that they occasionally forbid both the headscarf worn by Muslim women as well as the minarets of mosques. This paper investigates the globalization of Islamophobia and its effects on Muslims. How can these issues be resolved, too?
